Empress in Lavender is the vision of award winning filmmaker and published author, Madison Young, who has spent 26 years cultivating community art spaces in the Bay Area.
Empress in Lavender isn’t just a place to get work done, its a place to dream out loud and find the community support to bring your dreams to fruition alongside fellow artists, writers, and filmmakers. This is where collaboration and inspiration spark and the creative path forward feels less daunting because we are not alone, we are in community.
With literary and film workshops, artist panel discussions and mixers in the fields of visual arts,screenwriting, film, and literature, we are excited for this years programming as we grow our community.
With weekly goal setting and accountability containers that give artists space to articulate their creative projects and strategize in community a path forward to manifesting their dreams into being.

Empress in Lavender is so much more than just a spot to set up your lap top and trudge your way through emails. Empress in Lavender is a cauldron of community artists as well as the creative hub for working independent television and feature film production company, Empress in Lavender Media.
Empress in Lavender Media is dedicated to bringing queer, trans and sex worker narratives to television and feature films by those same communities.
Our members are established and emerging filmmakers, published authors, award winning journalists, and celebrated visual artists. We are calling in artists, writers, filmmakers, cultural innovators, movement makers, photographers, trailblazers and mischief makers.
This is a space for folx that dare to dream big. Dream big with us.
Your Questions, Answered
Do I need a long-term contract to join?
We ask that our members make a 6 month commitment to membership. This commitment from our members helps us to best support you and the space.
What amenities are included with membership?
All members enjoy 24/7 access, high-speed Wi-Fi, printing, complimentary coffee and tea, mail handling, and access to our community events, workshops, weekly writing groups, and more.
Can I book events at the space?
Members who are interested in proposing an event at the space can submit a request to EmpressinLavenderMedia@gmail.com. Depending on the needs of the event we will assess if it is something that we can accommodate.
